Winter Solstice has long been a sacred time of year for many cultures
For the Nyoongar people, this time of year is Makuru - the Season of Fertility
Hindus may celebrate Makar Sankranti in honour of the solar deity, Surya, who begins anew for the year ahead
During this workshop, we will explore:
Practices and rituals for the winter season
Reflection upon the summer and autumn that have been and the opportunities of winter in preparation for the spring ahead through the lense of yogic philosophy
Why ‘being’ can be just as, if not more, effective than ‘doing’
Breathing practices (pranayama) for winter warmth
Gentle yoga postures (asana) and movement for the darker months
Why hibernating from the world (pratyahara) can support your health and wellbeing
The meditative quality of darkness
Ways to implement or adapt your home practice to nourish you during winter
What is Included?
2hrs of guided participation
quality yoga props provided
organic herbal tea provided
time before and after the session for meeting like-minded people
We are cyclical being and our bodies innately shift and change with the seasons.
