Postnatal Yoga FAQs

So much is new when you become a new parent, no matter how many children you have. It’s natural you may have questions. We have provided some answers to common questions we receive here at The Centre of Bright Beginnings, but don’t hesitate to contact us directly if you have further enquiries.

  • Our postnatal yoga classes are mother-focussed. We include activities that promote bonding between mother and baby, but these can be undertaken whether or nor your baby is present.

Babies are most welcome, but if you have an alternative care option and wish to focus upon yourself fully during class, you can certainly come alone.

  • We are experienced at facilitating classes that are adptable to suit the needs of the mothers and babies on the day.

We often find that coming to class can assist with a change of mood and scene for baby and the practices that calm you can support them as they feel you relaxing.

If you are finding things hard, you are always welcome to call in for class using our google meet option. This is a great option if your baby is sick but you would still like to participate.

  • Once your baby is crawling or walking, it may be disruptive to other parents and babies during our workshops. However, your children of any age are welcome at private classes - we have toys to entertain children from babies to primary school children - or you can BYO. Feel free to contact us to discuss your needs further.

If your baby is very active, or has moved into the toddler stage and you would prefer something you can do during quiet moments when your child is asleep, you may find our Practical Yoga for Parenthood program to be a good fit.

  • The Centre of Bright Beginnings approaches postnatal yoga from a place of compassion. Rather than rushing to rediscover your pre-baby body, or regain your pre-pregnancy exercise regime, there is a focus on practicality and accessibility. Mothers and Parents are supported to nurture themselves and their babies as they adjust to their new roles.

The format of each Parents and Bubs Yoga Class is adapted on the day to suit the temperament and needs of the babies (and the parents). Sometimes we do our movement and energetic parts of the practice first, sometimes everyone just needs to calm down so we start with mindfulness.
